I'm a Windows Vista user and am currently using Windows Live Messenger. However, I'm thinking about changing. I know there are lots of different pieces of software out there such as Miranda, Pidgin, Trillian, Google Talk, Digsby and AIM so surely one of them must be better. Or should I stick with WLM? I have a Hotmail and Yahoo! account, as do most of my friends, so they are the email accounts it will need to support.

We need to integrate SMS/text messaging code into our software in order for it to allow users the option to send out messages via text messaging rather than by phone or email. Therefore we need to access someone elses server and code for our clients...Who provides the most reliable service that would accomidate our needs? Please provide a website if possible..Thanx

Hi, well as the title says none of the instant messaging software i download works, including aim, trillian, miranda im, or pidgin im. I first experienced the problem on ubuntu using pidgin, i thought it was either ubuntu or pidgin. Now that i switched back to XP, same problem. Also, this problem happened after i installed ubuntu.

Specifically software or programming languages to make an instant messaging program. I am trying to start development of a instant messaging program so I am wondering what languages, software, etc can i use to start this particular project? What was used in programs like MSN and Yahoo, AIM... I am trying to create a program that is downloadable and can run on the desktop. Problem is, i have no idea what programming language to use for such a thing. i want it to be a messaging program, most likely open source but it helps to have some kind of base to start from so anyone can help?
