Is window's "server" an operating system? I was planning on making one of my Quad core systems a Server, and someone recommended NOT to use a standerd OS. Thanks! Yes it's going to be used for game hosting. Is it a real server OS to purchase?

I want to buy a desktop that has no operating system on it, but it says that it is ready for XP OS installation. Can I simply buy the disc and install it or will I have to go through programing and or other complications?

I have installed two operating systems in my system. Both of them are windows XP. Now when I get into one operating system and try to access the files belonging to the other operating system, the system says "Access Denied". I very well know that there is a process to remove this access limitation because I ,myself have did this some 4 - 5 years ago but now that I have forgot the steps I need to know the process through which this limitation can be disabled.

I'm trying to find out if it's compatible with another product which says it is compatible with several smart-phones and those "running symbian operating system." I don't know what Symbian is, if Blackberry has it and I just spent 20 minutes at the Blackberry site which gave zero information under operating system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have Windows Vista and I want to completely delete everything off the computer and restore it to the original settings. Does reinstalling the operating system and formatting the hard drive both delete your data files and restore the system as it was when the computer was purchased? Also, the manual says I can reinstall the operating system by pressing the F8 key repeatedly when computer is starting. I also have an operating system cd that says that I can insert the cd and and restart the computer to reinstall the operating system. What is the difference between the two? Thanks.

Suppose you install a certain operating system that is designed for 32-bit computers in a computer that has a processor of 64 bits. Will the Operating System work anyway in that computer of 64-bit processor? I know that if you do it the other way round: installing an operating system designed for 64-bit computers in a 32-bit computer, it won't work.

In recent years, a lot of new assault rifles have been built with a piston operating system rather than the traditional gas operating system. Everyone has claimed that it is much better because it is much harder to jam and will still work safely if any of these new rifles are submerged in sand, water, mud, etc. My question is why. What does it do that the gas operating system doesn't do that makes it such an efficient system? I wasn't sure what category to post this under, but I hope this works.
